Overview - Description and History
The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-School of Nursing (UMDNJ-SN), established as academic programs in 1990, and reorganized as UMDNJ's seventh school in 1992, offers a comprehensive program of research, education, and educational mobility. Nursing degree programs at the Baccalaureate (BSN), Master's (MSN), Post-Master's Certificate (PMC) and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) provide an articulated educational ladder for advanced education. The school also offers a joint Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Urban Systems (Urban Health specialization available). UMDNJ-SN also offers extensive continuing education opportunities for all healthcare professionals.
The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey is accredited by
the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of
Colleges and Schools (CHE-MSACS).
All educational programs of the University have been approved by the
academic, governmental, and professional agencies with responsibilities
in specific areas of specialization. The primary and affiliated teaching
hospitals of the University are accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).
