Adult Health Nurse Practitioner MSN Program

 

The Adult Health Nurse Practitioner MSN program is based at UMDNJ’s Newark and Stratford campuses. Graduates are eligible for certification as an Adult Health Nurse Practitioner and for certification in the State of New Jersey as advanced practice nurses with prescriptive authority.

Role and Qualifications: The Advanced Practice Nurse in Adult Health has a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree and advanced preparation in the assessment and management of changing health needs in adults. The APN is distinguished by graduate preparation, supervised clinical practicum experience, and a depth of knowledge which supports advanced clinical practice and leadership in nursing.

Scope of Practice: The Adult Health APN assesses and collaboratively manages the healthcare needs of adults in diverse health services delivery settings and implements a scientific, evidence-based rationale for practice. Advanced practice is grounded in the nursing, biological, social and behavioral sciences.
