Family Nurse Practitioner in Emergency Care MSN Program

 

The Family Nurse Practitioner in Emergency Care MSN program is based at UMDNJ’s Newark and Stratford campuses. Graduates are eligible for certification to practice as Family Nurse Practitioners and for certifi cation in the State of New Jersey as Advanced Practice Nurses (APN) with prescriptive authority.

Role and Qualifications: The Family Nurse Practitioner in Emergency Care has a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree and advanced preparation in the assessment and management of emergent and urgent care to patients across the lifespan. The APN is distinguished by graduate preparation, supervised clinical practicum experience, and a depth of knowledge which supports advanced clinical practice and leadership in nursing.

Scope of Practice: The Family Nurse Practitioner in Emergency Care promotes the provision of timely and comprehensive care to all patients seeking emergency services while striving to eliminate healthcare disparities among diverse populations using evidence-based practice. The APN role is grounded in the nursing, biological, social and behavioral sciences.
