The School of Nursing at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) provides unique opportunities in teaching, scholarship, clinical practice and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Innovative academic offerings include bachelor's, master's, post-master's and doctoral degree programs that are preparing nurse leaders of today and tomorrow. Centers at the school offer continuing education, advance the practice of nursing, promote cultural competency in healthcare, and provide education, training and healthcare services nationally and internationally to fight HIV/AIDS. Outreach programs include a mobile healthcare clinic serving cities in northern NJ and a community health center in the southern part of the state.

Clinical Placement Coordinator

Job # 12NS962781 UMDNJ-School of Nursing (Newark & Stratford, NJ)

SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Assistant Dean for Graduate Programs, this individual will assist graduate nursing students to secure clinical placement sites to meet the educational requirements of the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program at UMDNJ.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include:

  1. Project student clinical placement needs in collaboration with graduate faculty.
  2. Identify clinical sites that meet the educational needs of the various specialty tracks.
  3. Serve as a clinical liaison for the graduate program and intermediary between students, agencies and practitioners in the community.
  4. Input data and maintain accurate records regarding clinical placements in consultation with Track Coordinators.
  5. Establish and maintain relationships with representatives of agencies where students are placed or desire a placement.
  6. Initiate the process for all clinical student affiliation contracts and academic contracts and bring same to finalization for the graduate program.

REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with 3 years of clinical experience; Proficient in computer skills and data base entry and maintenance; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Ability to multi-task and prioritize; Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; Excellent organizational skills and detail oriented. Additional related professional experience may be substituted for the degree on a year-to-year basis.

Pharmacology Faculty - Newark and Stratford, NJ

Qualifications: An advanced degree is required (PharmD, PhD, or equivalent degree). The ideal applicant will have a solid clinical background, previous academic experience and a strong desire to teach and advise nursing students and to contribute to the development of the UMDNJ-School of Nursing through research and service. Faculty rank and salary will be dependent on qualifications and experience.

The incumbent will teach, collaborate with nurse clinicians, participate in research and oversee the pharmacology-related education of nursing students at all degree levels on UMDNJ’s Newark, NJ and Stratford, NJ campuses.

Advanced Practice Nurses – Faculty & Clinical Positions, Newark, NJ

UMDNJ-School of Nursing has several positions available for Advance Practice Nurses who will provide direct care to patients of the School’s clinical practice initiatives and serve as instructors/and or preceptors for nursing students.


APN Faculty Clinicians

  • Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)
  • Adult & Pediatric Health dual certified (ANP/PNP)
  • Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP)

Provide advanced practice nursing care for patients of various School of Nursing programs including its mobile health program, community health centers and family clinics. While the emphasis is on clinical practice, the APNs will also teach nursing students in clinical and or classroom settings.

Requirements: Must hold appropriate NJ state licensing and national certification in the Nurse Practitioner specialty/specialties noted above. Must hold MSN degree and have at least two year’s advanced practice nursing experience. Prior academic and ambulatory care experience is welcome.

Nursing Faculty

Immediate openings are available in the following specialties.

STRATFORD, NJ

  • Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Faculty or Family Nurse Practitioner with strong Pediatric experience— to teach in BSN and MSN programs.

NEWARK, NJ

  • DNP program Faculty— must have earned doctorate in nursing, education, or related field.
  • Nurse Practitioner Faculty (various specialties)—full-time and part-time positions available, for MSN program.
  • BSN Faculty—seeking individuals to teach Adult Health, Pediatrics, Community Health, Mental Health, and Foundations courses.
  • Advanced Practice Nurse Faculty Clinicians—seeking NPs to staff our health clinics and teach limited courses.

Qualifications: Must hold appropriate NJ state licensing and appropriate national certification. MSN degree required, doctoral degree preferred for nursing faculty positions. Prior academic experience and demonstrated scholarship is a plus.
