Description

Are you a REGISTERED NURSE that has graduated within the last 12 months and would like to increase your marketability and give yourself a competitive edge? If so, this Nurse Residency Program is for you!  This 16 week program is guaranteed to give you the confidence and skill set you need to join the nursing workforce.  

UMDNJ-SN is dedicated to producing the top nurses in the country, so we have created a course to assist new graduates in making a smooth transition into nursing practice.

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing – BSN programs only
  • Applicant must have graduated no earlier than May 2011 and no later than May 2012
What will you gain?

Mentorship

  • One on one mentor in addition to clinical preceptor

Clinical experience
You will be working “one on one” 8 -12 hours shifts for FOUR months with an experienced registered nurse preceptor.

  • Total of 384 clinical hours
  • 24 hours per week with an assigned preceptor (supportive, dedicated preceptors) for 15 weeks
  • Specialty Units available throughout rotation (OB, OR, Telemetry, Peds)
  • Managing a "true" nurse patient load.
  • Hours will be based on preceptor schedule.
  • May include weekend rotation.
  • Full shift: Shift length (12 hours versus 8 hours) dependent on assignment

Theory

Program Requirements:

Eligibility requirement

  • Graduated from an accredited nursing program within the last 12 months OR will graduate prior to the program start date & will take NCLEX within six weeks of starting the program.
  • Holds a New Jersey Nursing license
  • Holds a Bachelors in Nursing degree
  • Holds current BLS/CPR
