Honors Convocation 2008 - Faculty Information

Held on Monday, May 19th at NJPAC, Newark, NJ at 5:00 p.m.

We are pleased to announce that the keynote speaker is Dr. Geraldine Bednash, Executive Director of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing.

• RSVP — We must receive your response no later than April 28th  so that we may provide you your admission tickets and reserve your seats whether on the platform or in the audience. Please let us know if you will be bringing guests. NJPAC requires that no one be admitted without a ticket. If you do not receive your tickets by May 12th, please email Yvonne McClendon at SNconvocation@umdnj.edu or call 973-972-4602.

• Special Needs — If you require special accommodations such as wheelchair seating, please send a detailed e-mail with your contact information to SNconvocation@umdnj.edu no later than   May 1st.

• Attire — All Faculty & platform guests must wear full academic regalia (cap & gown). Hang your cap & gown before the ceremony and lightly steam press if necessary. Bring hair pins if you need to secure your hat for the event. If you have questions or need assistance with securing regalia, please e-mail Diane Hyman at hymandi@umdnj.edu; or call 973-972-4288.

• Arrival Times (please allow extra time for travel and parking. The area will be congested with hundreds of arriving students and guests.)
  Staff — please report at NJPAC by 2:00 p.m.
  Faculty — please arrive at the faculty area by 3:00p.m. (unless otherwise requested).
  Honored Guests — please arrive at the VIP reception area by 4:00 p.m.

• Parking and Directions — Underground and surface parking is available for $8 to $12 with designated spaces for handicapped patrons. For more details and driving directions, visit www.njpac.org.

• Dining — Beverages and snacks will be available in the gowning room prior to the ceremony. NJPAC’s Theater Square Grill will be open for dinner and will offer limited seating from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Reservations are suggested; please call (973) 642-1226. For additional restaurants in the NJPAC vicinity, check local listings or visit online sites such as http://www.restaurantdb.net/NJ-Newark-restaurants.html. We suggest you contact restaurants in advance to ask about operating hours and reservation policies.
