Q: What accounts do I have access to?
A: As a student, you have access to four accounts: CORE, WebCT, Email and MY.UMDNJ (Web Portal)

Q: What is a CORE account?
A: This is the account you will use to login to the lab computers (SN computer lab and library lab).

Q: What is the portal or my.umdnj account?
A: UMDNJ’s web portal for students, staff and faculty is commonly referred to as my.umdnj. This is the gateway to access personal information, announcements, University links, registration information etc. can be accessed thru the portal account. This is also the account used to reset you passwords on all University accounts. To access the portal, visit http://my.umdnj.edu .

Q: What is a WebCT account?
A: This is the account you will use for online course content. Your course may be totally online or a face-to-face course with some online content. This is also used for orientation and compliance courses. To access WebCT, login to the portal and click on the Education tab. On the right side of the page click on the link for WebCT Campus Edition under My Courses.

Q: What is my UMDNJ email account?
A: This is the email account provided to you by the University. This account can be accessed by going to the website: http://mail.umdnj.edu . This account is an official means of communication. The University and SN will communicate with you using this account. You are responsible for the information sent to you at this account.

Q: What is my username or RUID?
A: You username for all University accounts, also known as your Reserved User IDentification (RUID) is used as the username for most of your University accounts. If you do not know your RUID, you can obtain it from the Student Affairs Office (SSB 1126). This is usually the first six characters of your last name, followed by your first initial and your middle initial. Your RUID may vary slightly from this rule. Examples of RUIDs are: John Q. Smith: smithjq; Jane Brownstein: brownsja; Joe Brown: brownj3

Q: What is my password for the portal?
A: When you first get admitted to SN, you should receive an email to your personal email address outlining a procedure to set your initial password for the portal. This activation can only be accessed once. Once your portal account has been activated, make sure you set your secret questions and answers. If you do not receive the activation email, please call the University Help Desk at 732-743-3200

Q: What is my password for CORE, Email or WebCT?
A: Once you login to the portal, you can click on My Account (top left) and then click on Reset Password; follow on-screen instructions. This will synchronize the password on all 4 of your accounts to the password you just entered.

Q: I forgot my portal password. How can I get it changed?
A: You can click on the Forgot Password link under the portal login. If you initially setup your password hints, you will be able to reset you password immediately using this link. If you do not remember your secret questions or did not initially setup the same, you will need to call the UMDNJ Help Desk. The number for the Help Desk is 732-743-3200 (on campus 3-3200).

A: Make sure you save your work and LOGOFF or SHUTDOWN the computer before walking away from the computer

Printing in the Computer Lab

Q: Where and how much can I print in the SN computer lab?
A: In the SN computer lab you can print to the two printers in the lab. As a student you are allowed 1000 free pages of printouts per school year. If you exceed this number you will need to go to the University Computer Lab in the Medical Science Building, Room C632 (MSB-C632). You can pay for more pages at this location. The current cost is $3.00 for 100 pages.

Q: What if I do not see any printers installed on a computer in the lab?
A: Setting up a printer is easy, follow these steps: Click on Start, then Run Type in \\nwcoreprint01 Double-click on SSBNDO1030P01, close the window that opens. Double-click on SSBNDO1030P02, close the window that opens. Now you can print to either printer in the computer lab. You may need to do this every time you login to a computer in the lab. Note: In the Doctoral Lab, use printer SSBNDO1024P01

Q: Where else can I print on campus and how much?
A: You can print in the University Computer Lab in the Medical Science Building, Room C632 (MSB-C632). The pages you print here come out of the 1000 pages you are given per school year. You can also print in the Library computer lab. There is a per page cost for printing in the library. Please see the library staff for details

Q: How can I find out how much of my printing privileges I have exhausted or how many pages I have remaining?
A: Visit http://www.umdnj.edu/pqm Click “Startup System” and log in with your RUID and password.

Q: What can I do if supplies are needed in the computer lab (paper, staples etc)?
A: Please go to the 11th Floor, Room 1127 and ask one of the administrative assistants for help.
