The Summer Institute will offer two tracks to accommodate researchers and knowledge professionals at both advanced and beginning stages of conducting qualitative and/or quantitative systematic reviews.
Participants will advance their knowledge of search methods, data analysis techniques, critical appraisal, and data synthesis.

July 9-13, 2012
9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. daily
This session is for individuals who are new to the comprehensive systematic review process. Participants will gain a thorough understanding of the process and tools needed to undertake this important form of research.- during the session, complete a structured plan to create your own systematic review proposal.
- submit your proposal for critique and assistance anytime within the 4 months following the Summer Institute.

- The 2-Day Intensive Completion Track
July 17-18, 2012
9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. daily
This session is designed for researchers who have an understanding of the comprehensive systematic review process and have developed an initial proposal. (Instructions: We will confirm your registration upon review of your proposal. Proposal must be submitted by July 1)- receive a thorough evaluation of your work to date.

Specialized Instruction. Small Groups.
Sessions will be held in UMDNJ's high fidelity classrooms and computer labs. You will gain hands-on instruction and practice in using three specialized software programs:
- JBI-MAStARI (Meta Analysis of Statistics, Assessment and Review Instrument) for quantitative data;
- JBI-QARI (Qualitative Assessment and Review Instrument) for qualitative data; and
- RevMan (Review Manager) used for preparing and maintaining Cochrane reviews.

They both hold Train-the-Trainer in Comprehensive Systematic Review certification from the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI).
Drs. Holly & Salmond are Co-Authors (with M. K. Saimbert), Comprehensive Systematic Review as the Basis for Evidence-Based Nursing Practice (Sept.. 2011, Springer)
Dr. Holly is the coordinator of the Eastern Nursing Research Society's Research Interest Group on Comprehensive Systematic Review and Knowledge Translation. She is a member of the Committee on Directors of the Joanna Briggs Institute of Nursing and Midwifery, the Evidence Translation Group, Cochrane Nursing Care Field, and the Cochrane Injuries Group. She serves as manuscript reviewer for several journals, including Nursing Outlook, Applied Nursing Research, Nursing Education Perspectives, and the Journal of Critical Care Nursing. She has been has led eight funded research projects. She has published extensively and is a national as well as international presenter.
Dr. Salmond is the North American co-convenor of the Nursing Care Field of the Cochrane Collaboration. She is the research editor of Orthopedic Nursing, and has served as a research, educational, and clinical management consultant. Dr. Salmond has co-authored three editions of Orthopaedic Nursing (WBS) and has authored two other books, and numerous book chapters and peer-reviewed journal articles. She is highly-sought after conference presenter and workshop leader, both nationally and internationally.

The mission of the New Jersey Center for Evidence-Based Practice is to work with researchers, clinicians and managers to promote the development and dissemination of evidence-based "best practices" in critical areas of healthcare.
