Applying for financial aid at UMDNJ

As you are in the process of applying for admission to the UMDNJ School of Nursing, it is also very important to begin planning for your educational financial needs.

Applicants need to be sure that they’ve begun the financial aid application process in a timely manner. Before ANY financial aid award(s) can be made, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This form is the “backbone” of the financial aid application process! Without this information, the Office of Student Financial Aid cannot determine your eligibility for federal, state or institutional funding. The FAFSA application is available on the Internet and should be completed early in the calendar year. It is recommended that you complete the FAFSA online now, even though you may not have received an official admission notification. Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov OR enter the site through the UMDNJ financia1 aid homepage at http://www.umdnj.edu/studentfinancialaid (select “application process”). Be sure to include UMDNJ as one of the institutions to receive your FAFSA information electronically! Our school code is 013645. Once you have submitted the FAFSA forms, it is VERY important that you review the results forms or Student AID Reports (SAR) which are mailed to you. If there are ANY comments on page 1 or requests to provide additional information, you must resolve them immediately. Failure to do so, will delay our office’s ability to process financial aid for you!

When you have been offered acceptance to UMDNJ, the Office of Student Financial Aid will automatically mail out a financial aid application packet to your current mailing address. This packet will contain instructions for completing the FAFSA, sources of financial aid, as well as other forms that MUST be submitted to our office. If you already submitted a FAFSA prior to receiving our financial aid packet, do NOT complete another one! During the spring, summer and fall academic semesters, we will be mailing out subsequent correspondence such as missing information letters, information on the Federal Stafford Loan program, as well the actual Financial Aid Award Letter. It is very important to review all correspondence from our office so that we can insure you have been awarded financial assistance and that the actual funding is available to you at the beginning of the fall semester.

If you have any questions about applying for financial aid at UMDNJ that have not been covered in this letter, please contact the financial aid office at the campus you have applied to this year:
