Student Government Association (SGA)

The purpose of the School of Nursing Student Government Association is to:

1. Promote the awareness of the BSN program of nursing among academic and local communities.
2. Serve as a means of communication among students, faculty, and administration to:
   1. Promote common educational and professional objectives;
   2. Advocate students’ interests;
   3. Enhance students’ educational experience;
   4. Encourage professional and constructive student conduct;
   5. Foster academic and professional success;
   6. Represent the Association’s members and their interests to the community at large and to other educational and professional institutions, organizations and associations;
   7. Inform the Association’s members of activities and opportunities that are organized and provided by other educational institutions, professional organizations and student associations;
   8. Promote and encourage participation of the Association’s members in appropriate student activities.
3. Augment student understanding of post-graduate educational and employment opportunities.
4. Promote and encourage relationships with professional associations, including the American Nurses Association, National Student Nurses’ Association, New Jersey League for Nursing, New Jersey State Nurses Association and New Jersey Nursing Students, Inc.
5. Collaborate with other UMDNJ Student Organizations to achieve mutual goals.
